Forum Tutorial

Many of our members may not be familiar with using a WebSite Forum. The simplest description of the Forum is to consider it a set of File Cabinets, with Drawers, Hanging Folders, Folders, and Sheets of Paper. Hopefully, these items are properly labeled and categorized, all with the purpose to make it easy for the user to find the desired information. When surfing a web site, we click on links to ‘drill down’ to the desired page. Forums work the same way - we click on links (inside the forum) to get to the data we want. Sometimes, we can skip a step or two, and get closer to the page we want.

The Purpose of our St. James Forum is to enhance communication, from not only the Church Office, but also amongst our many organizations.

Below are screen shots, with explanations, to make your use of our Forum more effective. Do not be ‘timid’ when using the Forum. Most steps are very intuitive, You cannot ‘break’ anything! Enjoy !

God Bless!

The Forum’s Main Structure is comprised of Categories (think of these as the File Cabinets). These can be defined in any manner. We chose the following: News, General, Dynamic Information, Organizations and Non-Dynamic Info. They can be opened and closed by click on the “+” or “-” in the corners of each Category.

Even the Forum heading can be opened or closed. One of the features of the Forum Header, is the line that informs the user how many new posts have been made since the last visit. This feature only works if you Register in the Forum. If you need assistance, here is a Registration Tutorial.

The Dynamic Information Category is one of two that are the real heart of the Forum. As you can imagine, it contains all information that reflects changes in schedules. It is structured in time segments, with for both weekly information (readings, ministers, alter servers, etc) and Calendar Events. As is indicated by the arrows below, you can click on a high level (weekly) or proceed direct to the month.
